Steps of Peace — Walk lightly, carry peace
The Steps of Peace program is an initiative that shares Dru’s work and programs, creates welcoming spaces where connection, creativity, and positive change can emerge, and brings people together — meeting new faces and reconnecting with dear friends across the Dru community. Walking has always been a way to connect — with the land, with one another, and with the truths that unite us. In the spirit of Indigenous and pilgrim traditions, Steps of Peace brings together blessings, stories, yoga, meditation, and meetings with people dedicated to peace and compassion. Each step is a chance to walk gently, honour the earth, and deepen our connections.
Saturday 10 January — Albury Walk - Wagirra/Yindyamarra Trail
1) Meet at Noreuil boat ramp
7.30 am
Meet at Noreuil to arrange a car pool to Wonga Wetlands for the start of the walk. If you would prefer to meet us at the wetlands themselves, or Kremur St Boat Ramp we can arrange to drop you back to collect your car after the walk.
2) Wonga Wetlands
8.00am
We will spend half an hour at Wonga Wetlands to have a look around, do a little Dru yoga and get ourselves ready for the walk ahead
3) Wonga Wetlands to Kremur St Boat Ramp
8.30am-9.30am
Following the Wagirra walking trail through the wetlands and along the river to west Albury.
“Wagirra” is a Wiradjuri word that means to "step on the ground". What's more, the trail has been constructed by Albury's Wagirra Trail Project team, which is made up of members from the local First Nations community. It's a project that's given its participants the training, skills, experience and confidence they need to develop a career. For some, it's also been a life changing experience (https://www.parklands-alburywodonga.org.au/explore-your-parks/other-parks/wagirra-trail/)
3) Kremur St Boat Ramp to Noreuil
9.30am-10.30am
Meeting with anyone who wants to join us at this part of the walk, we will then continue on to Noreuil via the Yindyamarra Sculpture Trail, which features a series of stunning contemporary Aboriginal sculptures created by local Aboriginal artists (https://www.alburycity.nsw.gov.au/leisure/sport-and-recreation/walking-and-cycling-trails/yindyamarra-sculpture-walk)
4) Rest and refresh by the river - Noreuil
10.30-11.30am
A well deserved dip and float in the river and relax on the lawn. Bring some refreshments to share if you can.
Non-walkers are very welcome to meet us at the river too.
Learn more about Steps of Peace and enjoy some wisdom from Angela and Deb
Approximately 11.30am we will arrange lifts back to Kremur St and Wonga Wetlands to collect cars.
5) Sumsion Gardens evening walk
5.30pm-6.30pm
Meet us for a more leisurely walk and a little yoga around Sumsion gardens and lake in Wodonga
6) Orana Yoga & Wellbeing — light supper, kirtan and relaxation
6.30-8.30pm
Join us for a light supper at Orana Yoga Wellbeing, 7 High Street Wodonga, (bring a plate to share) followed by some lovely kirtan and relaxation with Deb and Angela
Sunday 11 January
Mount Buffalo walk
7) Mt Buffalo
1.30-9.15pm
Meet at Mt Buffalo, walk to be decided, ideally to catch sunset, weather and other factors depending.

Dedication
Our mission is to dedicate 108,000 steps to every new student coming on the Dru Yoga Teacher Training Course in February 2026.
We are aiming for at least 20 students! That is 2,160,000 steps!
We will definitely need your help! If you would like to contribute to the count, please get in touch!
We invite you to walk with us, host a gathering, or sponsor the journey — each step helps write the next chapter.
