Malas - 108 - Tulsi Ram

A Tulsi Ram mala is considered to be both powerful and sacred. Tulsi (Holy Basil), the most sacred of Indian woods is reported to possess remarkable physical and spiritual healing properties; helps to improve devotion and love in the heart as well as being a gateway between heaven and earth.

A full mala has 108 counting beads plus one meru bead. The meru (mountain) bead provides a starting and ending point for counting the repetitions of the mantra.

The word mala comes from the Sanskrit meaning garland. Malas are used as meditation beads or prayer beads and used to keep the mind focused and clear from thoughts.
